Just a quick update.

I know it's been a couple of days since we posted, so I just wanted to give you a quick update tonight to let you know that Amber had a very good day today. She continues to progress a little each day and gain a little bit more strength. More hand squeezes, slight head nods or shakes (answering yes or no, since she still can't talk with the trach), toe-wiggling, and lots of mouthed I love yous. We love you too, Amber! We couldn't be more thrilled! We stand in amazement at the miracle that is occurring right before our eyes. It's truly exhilarating!

Amber is loving listening to us read your notes, the words of encouragement, the stories and memories, the I love yous you have shared. Thank you so much for lending your faith, support, and encouragement. Keep them coming, if you'd like. She loves hearing from you.

More tomorrow.

  1. I keep checking back on your progress each day and I'm so excited to hear today's report. We drive by your house almost daily and whenever we do, I think of you stuck up there in that hospital eating their nasty food. Hang in there girl! Get better soon and come on back here to our little neighborhood and your house.

Your love and devotion to your family gives you strength and with that strength Amber you inspire the rest of us. We need that inspiration from you and I personally feel the Lord is making us all thankful for you,and for Him through you. We look forward to the moments ahead of the changes as they take place. I am thankful for this blog, and the news from Michelle. God bless you Amber, Our love to you, Larry Wahrer

  3. I know I post comments on here a lot! I can't help myself :) ...

Random: I have been thinking a lot about my house lately... and I am going to do what you recommended I do with the bright red flowers below my 2 big windows out front. Obviously, this project will have to be completed next spring, but when you come home you are going to have to help me search for the giant iron baskets. Anytime I think about my yard and flowers I think of YOU Amber! You have such amazing taste and I can't wait for you to go shopping with me for flowers and shrubs for my yard (and yours too!!) I am sure we will have many shopping adventures together!

Stay strong Amber! You will get through this challenge! Before you know it you will be home chasing your kids and all of this will seem like a dream. Please know that we are here to help you now and we will be when you get home. Love ya and can't wait to see ya!!

  4. Amber...although I have only met you at your wedding, I have known JP since he was born. We are good friends of Jonathan and Michelle. We have been praying for you and have put your name in the Temple several times. My first husband, Ron, was in a drug induced coma for almost 4 weeks, so I know what JP and your family have gone through. It has been hard but it brings everyone closer to Heavenly Father and makes us realize how fragile life is and what is important in life. Little things don't matter anymore. We are in Twin Falls, Idaho and came and saw Jonathan, Michelle, JP and your kids after your first week in the hospital. Your children loved my husband Shane playing with them and JP showed us a drawing that he did of my son Brooks while he was in Art Class. We love your family and continue to pray for your return home to your family soon. Linda Waters Leiser

  5. Amber,

We are grateful to a loving Heavenly Father for more good news!

Some random good news from us is that we are running a 6k next week for Elizabeth's 32nd birthday. We are also running a half marathon at the end of October.

We have refocused our efforts on health after a devastating miscarriage this summer.

In 9 weeks, Elizabeth has lost almost 35 lbs. and Mathew has lost almost 25 lbs. This is all from following the Word of Wisdom and incorporating daily exercise.

Hope this small bit of good news from our family helps to brighten your day.

You're wonderful and we love you!

    Mathew, Elizabeth, and Evalina Bass

  9. Amber,

I'm so happy to hear about your progress! I just wrote out a huge rambling comment only to have it eaten by my computer. Boo. Now I'll just make it brief and say how excited I am for you! I see your name every time I use my phone as yours is the first in my 'directory'. The first few weeks it was a painful reminder many times a day to plead with our Heavenly Father for your full recovery. Now I get to offer prayers of thanksgiving!

I know it may sound silly, but I'm oh so excited to hear what you think about Mockingjay! Your love of literature is just one of many things I adore about you.

Keep up the good work lady and we'll see you soon!

    Natalie

  16. I am so happy for you! I can't wait to visit, and seeing you at home. The kids are out playing in your yard. A Golf ball flew in and off ran Kayla and Corbin to get it. She can hold her own. I am sure she will grow up and be just like her Mama. She is so sweet, and a tough one too! And yes she was trying to eat some dirt dirt. That little stinker! Anyway we are greatful this far and will forever put our trust and Faith in Heavenly Father. I am so glad to hear all the of your progress. Thankful for a sweet friend like you. Nita
